A director of photography provides the visual “flesh” of the film or television episode. Cinematography is the visual blueprint of a movie or television show. It requires creativity, imagination, and art. Cinematography furnishes a whole layer of beauty and creativity that the director and producer simply do not and cannot provide. Therefore, good directors of photography can imbue any film or television show with their unique touch or “signature.”
